WebCT Technical Support

The Technology Center (TC) provides the server and the system/software administration for WebCT at the University of Alabama. This on-line e-learning software is the default software for all of the University’s on-line courses. Assistance in the design and construction of WebCT courses is provided through the Faculty Resource Center.

There are three different installations of WebCT supported by the Technology Cener. The primary installation is integrated with the Student Information System. All courses are created for each term, instructors are assigned to the course and students are enrolled in courses all automatically. A second installation (webct2.ua.edu) is maintained to provide on-line courses for those situations in which the SIS integrated installation is unsuitable. Finally, oldwebct.ua.edu:8900 provides faculty with the ability to create new courses in WebCT in a developmental setting. In those TC is responsible for the creation of course shells, user accounts, and installation of e-packs as well as maintaining the WebCT software.
